now old cassettes and cigarettes will be the ones to save you
i know a lot of people hate on starbucks, but i think this is great. being a former employee, you have to learn all about the company...and one of the big company policies, despite what you may think, is not to depend on advertising. they buy a decent amount of billboards to help inform drivers of locations, but in terms of tv commercials and the like, their policy is basically to stay away and depend on word of mouth. i'm sure you are thinking about when you've seen a starbucks commercial, but with the exception of a campaign they did in the spring (i think it was for gazebo blend and iced coffees) the only other commercials their products have appeared in were for the doubleshots or bottled frappuccinos...which were paid for, not by starbucks, but by the bottling company. what is the point of this little informative rant? starbucks won't pay for tv spots and advertising traditionally, but they will pay to show this commercial encouraging individuals to vote. not only that, they are advertising....just to give away free product. for all of the starbucks haters out there...find one other major corporation that 1 - doesn't advertise and then 2- pays for advertising to lose more money and support a social cause. i dare you.

I frickin love that commercial. I was actually thinking about blogging about it, and then a couple of hours later, there it was. :) It gives me the warm fuzzies inside.
