on tuesday, america took one giant step forward and another enormous step back. government sanctioned discrimination is not a sign of a progressive nation. not only did proposition 8 pass in california, though by a very small margin, discriminatory measures diminishing or eliminating gay rights were also passed in florida, arizona and arkansas. this. breaks. my. heart.
i am not sure how many of you have followed proposition 8, but it has been a very heated point of descension. why give rights and then take them away? also, in my opinion, and i am not alone in this belief, constitutional additions should only add rights, not take them away (i.e. giving women the right to vote, african-americans the right to not be slaves, etc.)

please realize that the fight is still ongoing...if you are willing to join in the cause, there will a number of nationwide rallies protesting prop 8 on november 15th at 10:30 pst. /1:30 est. i know i am going to be doing my best to get down to the austin city hall for this. don't let discrimination continue.

euthanasia is also now legal in washington (it already was in oregon)...who knew? all kinds of shit went down at the polls....so we as americans can approve of assisted suicide, but not gay marriage? at least gay marriage wouldn't be hurting anyone...
