Buchloe, Germany
finally a day of unobstructed sun. despite the obligatory glisten on my forehead and those of the people around me, there is something so revitalizing about the sun on my skin. its like i can feel the energy from somewhere beyond myself seeping into every pore, filling me up with hope, awe and wonder. there have been too many days of apathy, gray, and mediocrity. maybe it is something about the pain, the burn, the discomfort that sets me at easte, but what it is - i'm grateful for it. this morning i had breakfast with a very well-spoken english girl, boo, before heading to münchen station, which brought me here to buchloe, then i'm finally off to füssen by way of kaufbeuren. hopefully i will be getting to füssen around noon. from there, a bus to the ticket offices, then an uphill climb to the town below the castles, then two hikes to neuschwanstein and hohenschwangau. a few more queues and the like, but a packed, segmented day. one last day of free will without sitting for countless consecutive hours on trains to get all the way back to amsterdam, where i will have to keep myself awake for hours on end until my flight, just to save myself the trouble and cost of even more transportation and a hostel for a few hours. i am feeling really torn emotionally about going home. i am loving how surreal it all is, and i am ready for some sleep, but i don't know if i'm as ready for reality as i would like to think that i am.
